Ten diaspora communities of the Middle East and North Africa are highlighted in the ‘societies’ section of the exhibition Mudun, Urban Cultures in Transit. The collaged presentation explores a range of transplant communities that influence the urban fabric of their adoptive cities and reimagine their sense of belonging. A conversation between publisher Lars Muller, curator Salma Tuqan, architect Asif Khan and urbanists Ahmed and Rashid Bin Shabib examines the role of identity in diasporic engagement across various disciplines and investigates changing meanings of the diasporic concept.
