The work of Nikolaus Hirsch explores the impact of temporal phenomena on architectural and urban conditions through textual and material investigations. Hirsch taught at the AA from 2000-2005. He has also held positions as a visiting professor at the Institute of Applied Theatre Studies, Giessen University and Hochschule fuer Gestaltung Karlsruhe. He is a partner in Wandel Hoefer Lorch & Hirsch, Frankfurt. His projects include Track 17 in Berlin, the Dresden Synagogue, the music pavilion Soundchambers for Museu Serralves, Portugal, and an architectural structure for Bruno Latours exhibition Making Things Public. He has been awarded the 1998 BDA-Prize Berlin, the Art Prize of 1822 Foundation, 2001 German Critics Award and 2002 World Architecture Award.
