Join us for the launch of On Power in Architecture
Architecture has always been a decisive manifestation of power. This volume brings an attempt to question and reflect on the relationship between power and architecture from three philosophical perspectives: materialistic, phenomenological and post-structuralist.
This volume features essays and interviews by fourteen renowned authors, including philosophers, architectural theorists, and historians, proposing an interdisciplinary exploration of architecture's interconnectedness with power. Through practical examples, it examines these concepts in action. In the works presented, architecture is intertwined with philosophy in a new discussion that centers specifically on power.
Architecture, with its implications for the complex contemporary political and social reality, is changing our spaces and, more broadly, our environment. The multilayered relationship between architecture and power has never been more relevant than it is today.
We are delighted to welcome two contributing authors, along with the editor to the bookshop. Elke Krasny is a professor for art and education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, Teresa Stoppani is Professor of Architecture and Director of Architecture and Interior Design at Norwich University of the Arts and lecturer at AA, and Mateja Kurir is a philosopher and researcher from Ljubljana. The event will feature presentations of the volume and chapters by the authors, refreshments and book sales.
