Polish artist Krzysztof Wodiczko employs a range of different media in his work, including sculpture, photography, video and design, in order to examine the relationship between architecture, individuals and society, and to reveal the contradictions and conflicts that are played out in symbolically important parts of a city. He was awarded the Hiroshima Art Prize in 1998 for high achievement in contemporary art and contributions to world peace. In this lecture Wodiczko presents the results of the Maeda Artist Workshop, which takes the form of explorations conducted at London sites in conjunction with AA Students. Krzysztof Wodiczko is Professor of Visual Arts and the Director of the Center of Art, Culture, and Technology at M.I.T. (formerly known as the Center for Advanced Visual Studies).
