"We will look at everyday life as a school for dance and consider that contemporary movement demands existing structures to shift. We will reflect on internal and external spaces that require new modes of perception. We will begin by drawing together." - Meg Stuart
Radical Togetherness from Stefan Jovanovic on Vimeo.
What does it mean to be radically together today? How can you maintain your individuality within a collective? Can we say we will love in agreement, and commit crime by association? We will explore altered states, collective situations, improvised play, and architecture as potential for healing and creating social sculptures. First, we will act, and then we will enter discourse. We will fluctuate between the AA, an off-site studio and public space. We will investigate the role of rites today as we create gestural scores, disrupt existing social contracts and develop agreements on intimacy. In this workshop/intervention/laboratory I will offer various tools and methodologies I have explored during my danceWEB residency at ImpulsTanz, in Vienna, a five-week collaboration with various artists including Meg Stuart, Tino Sehgal, Tacita Dean & Jen Rosenblit.
5 day workshop across various locations at the AA - Monday 31 October to Friday 4 November
*No limit on number of participants, but full-time commitment will be expected. Open to current AA students and recent graduates (2-3 years).
** No formal training in dance is required to take part in the workshop, but the workshop will consist in considerate amount of movement, intensity and energy.
Please send an email to jovanovic_stefan@live.com by October 22nd if interested in participating.
