To connect with our potential allies, contributors and curators within the AA community and to test our claims in action, we synchronise the public launch of Plakat Platform with a one day ‘design provocations’ workshop. It will focus on a core post-dialectic urban brief – ‘Renewal x Preservation’ – seeking fresh ideas that shake up the conception of old vs. new, life-and-death cycles vs. progress and welcome the inherent continuity and discontinuity of the city undergoing both experimental preservation and conscious transformation. We will introduce express methods for research, analysis and speculations and help participants to quickly develop and package their ideas for immediate circulation and exchange, with essential provocation packages - ‘one image + one diagram’ - making up our collective output and the pop-up exhibition.
To all participants who have a confirmed place in the workshop:
- IMPORTANT: You must come to the workshop with ONE IMAGE that for you best expresses a problem (or a hidden possibility) of Renewal x Preservation in the contemporary city, as a digital file and as a print. (We will work with you to de-construct the image; research the contexts of its key elements; frame your argument and recompose the final provocation image).
- You need to bring your LAPTOP, with the relevant image-editing softward on it (with a full battery and a power adaptor please!).
- We start at 9:30 am in the AA Lecture Hall, on Monday Oct. 31st, and we wrap up with the Pop-Exhibition and the Public Lecture at 6:30 pm.
