
David Benjamin is the Founder and Principal of The Living and Assistant Professor at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. The Living is a New York based design practice, the first of a new kind of Autodesk Studio, explores the future by building full-scale functioning prototypes today. Its projects apply generative design, biology, and new materials to real built projects in the context of technology, culture, and the environment. Recently, The Living was ranked third by Fast Company in its list of World’s Most Innovative Companies in Architecture. Recent projects include ‘Amphibious Envelope and Black Lake’ at MoMA, the Bionic Partition for Airbus, and the prize winning Hy-Fi at MoMA PS-1.
