One of Britain's most influential and powerful architects, Richard Rogers studied at the AA before graduating from Yale University. He founded the Richard Rogers Partnership in 1977 and is best known for such pioneering buildings as the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris (with Renzo Piano); the Lloyds Building, London; the European Court of Human Rights, Strasbourg; and the Millennium Dome, London. A recipient of the RIBA Gold Medal, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation Medal, and the Lgion d'Honneur, Richard Rogers was knighted in 1991 and made a life peer in 1996.
