UTOPIAA explores how utopia and the architectural imagination can be activated, not only in the non-place of the internet but more interestingly from our domestic environments and behaviours that have rapidly absorbed all functions of work, culture, discourse, activism and more in the current pandemic. The all-day programme runs all day in California and all night in London. Featuring architects and creatives from San Francisco, London jointly organised between CCA, AA and Gray Area. The new AA Visiting School San Francisco (PROTO-DOMESTICS) explores alternative approaches to the genre of domestic architecture, drawn from various threads of the history of communes, co-living and other modes of dwelling in the San Francisco Bay Area. This new platform for architectural discourse and experimentation is organised in partnership with California College of the Arts’ Architecture Division and also supported by SF’s Gray Area Center for the Arts and San Francisco Art Institute.
