Artist Michael Craig-Martin discusses the development of his work and ideas, with particular emphasis on projects with architects, including working with Herzog and de Meuron at the Laban Dance Centre in London. Since his first one-man exhibition at the Rowan gallery in London, 1969, Craig-Martin has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions. His work was included in the definitive exhibition of British conceptual art, The New Art at the Hayward Gallery in 1972 and he was the subject of a retrospective exhibition at the Whitechapel Art Gallery in 1989. His best known works include An oak tree, his large-scale drawings of common room objects, and his intensely coloured room installations and paintings.
