Doug initially trained as a mechanical engineer and for many years he worked as a mastering engineer in the music industry. His earliest teaching experience dates from this time too, teaching audio production at a private college. He later studied acoustics and went on to complete a PhD on the room acoustics of music rooms at London South Bank University; he also teaches architectural acoustics and noise control on the Master’s there. Since 2021, Doug has been working as an acoustic consultant at RBA Acoustics, a large independent consultancy in Elephant and Castle, London. He also has interests in photography and image making, music and the creative process.
