Paolo is an associate architect at Takero Shimazaki Architects and an educator with extensive knowledge of technical aspects of construction. He has a keen interest in the reuse of existing building stock, seeking to create meaningful change through thoughtful and minimal intervention, as well as in environmental principles in both practice and academia.
After graduating from the AA, Paolo taught at London Metropolitan University. Together with Takero Shimazaki and others, he led a Diploma unit focusing on the reuse of existing building stock through minimal intervention with economical and sustainable means. Paolo coleads an AA Visiting School for researching the minimal reuse of abandoned Mediterranean islands and imagining a future scenario for their light inhabitation.
