Paula is the Sustainable Environmental Design Programme Head, a PhD supervisor and a former Member of the AA Academic Board, Academic Committee and Internal Assessment Board. She practiced architecture in Zurich and Lisbon, and worked for the European Commission in Brussels managing world-class research projects on energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and emerging fields. Paula was a professor and the founding director of the Bioclimatic Architecture Masters Course at the University of Lisbon. Her research interests cover the various areas of sustainable architecture and climate change. She has published papers in journals and conferences, and has been invited for keynote speeches worldwide. She chaired the sustainable architecture working group of the Architect’s Council of Europe and is a former president of PLEA.
