‘A Forest Datum’, a built project at Hooke Park by students of the AA’s Design and Make postgraduate programme, has been featured in an article on Dezeen. The Datum, which uses crown timber sourced from the pruning of very small branches high up in the forest canopy, harnesses the inherent strength of tree forks to create a low-cost and easily replicable structure to support a forest walkway. It was developed by Yan Chen, Yonger Chen, Paola Gonzalez Ferreiro, Seongsoo Han, Alejandra Marcovich, Kavana Irappa Pujar, Ramtin Taherian, Mingxin Yang and Ramsey Young – the 2023–25 cohort students on the Design and Make programme based at the AA’s forest campus at Hooke Park, Dorset.
