AA Diploma 21 student Yang Yang is exhibiting their work at the AA from this year at The Crypt Gallery. With a fascination in creative lighting design, Yang Yang has spent the year developing a designed lighting experience predominantly using natural light. The exhibition, which is titled Echoes of Light, focuses on a journey curated through natural lighting within the historical context of the crypt.
Yang Yang has utilised a series of reflective lighting devices to transport the sunlight into the deepest parts of the crypt. Visitors are asked to navigate through the space and read their surroundings through the light sources curated. At the same time, the devices catch visitor’s movements, triggering subtle shifts in light, visibility and density.
The exhibition will be on view at The Crypt Gallery in London from 10am–6pm BST, Friday 31 May – Saturday 1 June. The suggested visiting times are between 10am–12pm BST and 2–5pm BST, due to changes in solar altitude angle.
