Khartoum Technical School and School of Commerce was founded in 1902 but was re-named in 1950, as the Khartoum Technical Institute, after having merged successively with the School of Radiology (1932), the School of Design (1946) and the School of Commerce. Subsequently it took the name of 'Khartoum Polytechnique' in 1975 and then, finally, Sudan University of Science and Technology in 1990
