Canopy of Thoughts, a 2021 AAIS Thesis Project by AA Alum Elyssa Sykes-Smith has been exhibited in Space Time Existence, European Cultural Centre as part of the Venice Architecture Biennale 2023. The exhibition responds to climate change and focuses on sustainability and innovation, reuse and community. Elyssa’s installation reuses timber and paper packaging together with recorded responses by Shoalhaven residents affected by the 2019–20 Australian bushfires. Visitors will have an opportunity to learn about geographically distant yet globally relevant climate-based disasters by sharing individual stories, presented through an intimate exhibition experience. The installation will offer a positive way to process the despair of the world's climate crisis and to enable action for change.

The exhibition will be on view from May – November 2023 in the Palazzo Mora Venice, Italy.
