Prajapati’s Painted Bodhi, by AA alumna Dalia Matsuura Frontini, is now on show at the Building Centre as part of the Shaping Space exhibition. The project, created within Diploma 16 and now held in the AA Archives, is a conceptual model that uses new technologies to simultaneously design and build the structure. Drawn while using a virtual reality headset, a Paint Cloud programme recorded and calibrated the drawing; it was then outputted by a robotic arm fitted with a paint extrusion device, painting it in 3D.
The Shaping Space exhibition celebrates the role of architectural models in shaping the spaces we live in. The exhibition is a collaboration between the V&A and the Building Centre and presents the world in miniature; a collection of historical and contemporary models that reveal the evolution of architecture.
The Shaping Space exhibition will run until Friday 28 January 2022 at the Building Centre, London. Find out more information here.
