AA alumni Jingru (Cyan) Cheng and Chen Zhan were interviewed by Frieze about their ongoing work that probes infrastructure’s hidden reach through sound, video and fieldwork in Southeast Asia.
The conversation took place in the context of their exhibition at Storefront for Art and Architecture in New York that traces the invisible infrastructures connecting transnational power grids, large-scale dams and engineered spectacles, such as Singapore’s Jewel Rain Vortex. Cyan and Chen reflected on the politics of water and how sound became a key medium for revealing what often lies just beyond perception.
