Serie Architects has completed a 5,000-seat discourse hall for the Raj Sabhagruh ashram in Dharampur, India. Serie is led by partners Chris Lee (AA Diploma Honours), Martin Jameson (AA Diploma Honours) and Diploma 1 unit tutor, and Bolam Lee (AA Diploma). The hall is a 56-metre column-free drum with four gently curved arch walls. The exterior is clad with 800,000 hand-cut marble bricks salvaged from discarded marble off-cuts, sourced from nearby Makrana, Rajasthan. The project was awarded to Serie Architects in 2012 through an international invited competition.
