AA Alumnus Tejas Sidnal (MSc EmTech 2013) has been featured in Wallpaper magazine with his start-up Carbon Craft Design, which harvests fossil fuel emissions and captures them in the manufacture of decorative tiles, whilst working closely with local artisans working with traditional techniques.

Sidnal commented: ‘Our design thinking is to communicate climate change issues. For us, Tile was a great way to start. Inspired by the unique identities of the cities and the natural elements that define these cities, we created an exciting new range of flooring patterns.’

The goal is to create eye-catching and high quality products that are much less carbon intensive than their traditional versions. ‘The whole process consumes the least amount of energy compared to the conventional ceramic tiles.’
