Nana Biamah-Ofosu and Bushra Mohamed, who teach DIP2 at the AA, have curated the exhibition Tropical Modernism: Architecture and Power in West Africa, which opened this month at the Applied Arts Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale. The exhibition is a collaboration between the AA and the Victoria and Albert Museum, and is co-curated by Christopher Turner. Through films and installations, it analyses the work of the Department of Tropical Architecture (DTS) at the AA in the mid-20th century as a means of critiquing the colonialist implications of tropical architecture. It will travel to the V&A for an expanded exhibition in 2024.
