Theodore Spyropoulos, Head of the AA Design Research Lab (DRL), will speak at Harvard University Graduate School of Design (GSD) on 15 October, presenting the Rachel Dorothy Tanur Memorial Lecture in the Gund Hall Piper Auditorium.
Titled Quantum, the lecture will explore the intersections of architecture, quantum physics, artificial intelligence and second-order cybernetics in pursuit of a theory of relationality. The event will be live streamed for remote audiences.
The lecture will invite guests to rethink global challenges of technological advancements and rapid environmental change from a fresh perspective. This reframing will shift our focus from static representational models to collaborative, ever-evolving interactions that allow us to perceive our world in new ways. Architecture provides a lens through which we can examine how the built environment influences our relationships with one another encompassing humans and non-humans, objects and the world at large. As we navigate ongoing uncertainty and change, Theodore will delve into the intersections of quantum physics, artificial intelligence and second-order cybernetics to explore a theory of relationality.
