Strange Fictions, the new performance company led by AA Foundation Programme Tutor Stefan Jovanović Kaasa, premieres its debut solo work When the Clarion Came to Call this autumn at The Cockpit, London from 31 October – 1 November 2025.
Rooted in a transdisciplinary practice bridging architecture, performance and trauma healing, the work combines physical theatre, sculpture and storytelling to explore themes of transformation, queer mythology and ancestral memory. At its centre is the clarion – a winged, otherworldly figure who arrives bearing messages of warning and renewal.
Using hand-built ceramic urns as both costume and scenography, the performance unfolds in a ritualistic space where trauma is not only witnessed but reshaped. Drawing on his background in architecture and somatic therapy, Kaasa invites audiences into a mythical landscape where bodies, stories and clay collide.
When the Clarion Came to Call marks the beginning of a new chapter for Kaasa’s practice, blending material research with live performance and building toward an international tour in 2026.
