The American Academy in Rome has recently announced the winners of its 2023–24 Rome Prize and Italian Fellowships, and Sabrina Morreale – a tutor on the AA Foundation course – has been selected as the Enel Foundation Italian Fellow in Architecture, Urban Design, and Landscape Architecture. Morreale was awarded for the project ‘Roman Foraging: Spontaneous Convivial Acts within the Edgelands’, which aims to initiate an immersive ethno-botanic journey through Rome, identifying edgelands in which urban foraging could trigger convivial engagement. Through investigation of the harvesting and use of ingredients, Morreale hopes to activate and understand cultural ties within specific communities, both in relation to the history of Rome and to its contemporary multi-ethnic fabric.
The Academy also announced three Italian Fellowships, through which Italian artists and scholars join the AAR community and pursue their own projects in a collaborative environment with their American counterparts.
