The Royal Academy of Arts in London has announced AA tutor and alum Marko Milovanovic as their Shane de Blacam resident. Marko will travel to Ireland to undertake his research project, Beyond Influence.
‘Shane de Blacam embodies a profound dichotomy – he is both a student and a teacher. I am fascinated by his ability to articulate the notion of influence within our profession. As a committed listener, I hope to explore the threads of knowledge Shane de Blacam has channelled – from his teachers to his students and their students – and capture the architectural forms in which that knowledge manifests,’ said Marko in a statement.
Marko is an architect, artist and journalist. His educational platform, Free School Of, celebrates conversation as a fundamental form of knowledge. Marko has interviewed artists, architects, curators and scholars, and has written extensively on culture, politics and urban regeneration. He teaches at the AA, the Royal College of Art and Oxford Brookes University. Find out more about Free School Of here.
The Shane de Blacam Residency has been created as a collaboration between the Royal Academy of Arts in London and Architecture at the Edge, a Galway based not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of architecture as culture.
