AA students Zekun Qin, Yolande Wang, Peiyao Yu, and University of Stuttgart student Weiqi Xie, have been awarded third place prize in the Young Architects Competition: Riyadh Dream Villas for their project Between Walls.

The competition brief called for a design of two immeasurably valuable living accommodations at the edge of the Arabian desert, where luxury, post-pandemic aspirations and a breath-taking landscape come together in a new form of dwelling.

‘A wall - a pure, mathematical vector - is the fundamental element of architecture. It is the primary language of shelter against natural hazards. It is the boundary with which dignified life is established. It is the manifestation of human order within the wilderness.’
