AA students Yolande Wang and Zekun Qin have received the BB Student Award 2021 in the Romantic Cabin for Two competition, which asks participants to imagine and design a getaway retreat. The architecture competition is held in partnership with Earth Energies New Zealand.

Wang and Qin’s project, titled Sanctuary Beacon, is a modernist open-plan triangle that illuminates light. The timber structure opens fully, allowing guests to engage with not only the surrounding foliage but also a panoramic view of the mountains.
