AA DRL co-ordinator and History and Theory Studies (HTS) tutor Nerma Cridge will be chairing a session on performing and embodying place at an interdisciplinary conference titled Folk, Knowledge Place in Singapore on 9–12 December. Cridge will also be presenting a paper titled Digital Placemaking as part of the series.
Digital Placemaking explores some of the pressing issues affecting the global city and urban spaces, including problems of public green space scarcity and the role of architects in improving cities. The works considers the role of digital technologies in creating spaces in a true sense, not only for passers-by, but for urban dwellers to intentionally seek out and spend time. Ultimately the paper will highlight the importance of fleeting natural events, which are often absent from our every-day environments and their ephemeral beauty which can be brought into a different focus and resolution by the digital.
