Sho Ito has been invited to give a public lecture on Nature’s Treasures: Celebrating Earth’s Natural Resources, at the University of Westminster.
The lecture aims to critically analyse and articulate the over extraction of natural resources, particularly in South East Asia. In nations such as Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia and China, illegal extraction has exponentially increased in the last two decades to keep pace with an ever-growing demand that is fuelled by population growth. The project unveils and raises questions on how these resources are distributed, commodified and consumed by post-developed nations and multinational corporations, where the implication of such practice is spatial and inherently architectural.
The lecture will be open to the public and take place on the 30 November at 6–7.30pm GMT at the following address:
University of Westminster, 35 Marylebone Rd, London NW1 5LS
4th Floor, Lecture Room 4313
