AA tutors James Westcott and Aude-Line Deuliere, in collaboration with Arne Vande Capelle from Rotor and AA alumni Amaya Hernandez, Nena Aru and Ele Mun have produced an installation that is currently being presented at the Lisbon Architecture Triennale.
The installation presents the Montado ecosystem, its conservation value and its biodiversity. Montado are native agroforests in Portugal that produce cork. The focus is to communicate the sophistication and vulnerabilities of this ecosystem as a place of cohabitation for trees, cattle, pastures, humans, and the cork production industry. Since cork is widely recognised as an ecological and sustainable material, the installation attempts to shed some light on how increasing demand might impact these local ecosystems.
The installation will be on display as part of the exhibition Cycles at the Lisbon Architecture Triennale until Sunday 12 February 2023. For more information, click here.
