Architectural historian and former AA tutor Charles Jencks’ home, The Cosmic House, is now open to the public, serving as a museum and archive. The house, which stands as a playful embodiment of different ideas about what post-modern architecture should be, is located in Holland Park, London, and will host a series of exhibitions, talks and residencies.
Cosmic, Comic, Cosmetic Themes and Designs for a House is the title of the new Jencks archival gallery that has launched in parallel to the reopening. The exhibition was curated by AA tutor and Charles’ daughter Lily Jencks, and brings together materials from his archive that outline the history of the building and some of the key influences and collaborations that helped develop the ideas behind its design.
