Edwin Heathcote wrote on the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale this month in The Art Newspaper. Heathcote’s rundown of the main exhibition and national pavilion picks came in an article titled What not to miss at this year’s Venice Architecture Biennale.
The project Margherissima by Nigel Coates in collaboration with AA students which will be located in Forte Marghera, mainland Venice, was included under ‘special projects’, where Heathcote writes:
‘Nigel Coates, the British architectural wunderkind of fashion and nightlife, has an off-site show created with students from the Architectural Association, Margherissima, an exercise in redesigning Venice’s industrial neighbour Forte Marghera, decontaminating and attempting to understand how a new settlement could be built around its inhabitants and their lives. The installation will consist of large models made from the leftover fragments of industry, salvaged components and materials positing a new industrial skyline haunted by the remains of manufacture.
