The AA is delighted to announce that Kate Davies and Emannuel Vercruysse have been selected as co-Directors of the Design and Make Taught Postgraduate programme at Hooke Park, the school’s educational space located in the woodland of Dorset, UK. They will be taking over the role previously held by Martin Self, who will continue teaching and mentoring as Founding Director, and joining and experienced and passionate staff at Hooke Park.
Mark Morris, Head of Teaching and Learning, commented: ‘Both are known to most of us at the AA, each having extensive experience at the school. The search panel unanimously praised their commitment to innovative teaching and shared vision for the programme, as well as their plans to better connect Hooke Park with Bedford Square and beyond. Their areas of expertise will be valuable in refreshing the Hooke Park master plan and guiding the Wood Lab research initiative.’
Kate is the Programme Head for the Communication and Media Studies programme at the AA where she was Unit Master of Diploma 6. She is also a cofounder of the nomadic studio Unknown Fields, art and architecture collective LiquidFactory and field robotics group RAVEN. Emannuel’s research and teaching focuses on design-through-making. He has a long association with both Design and Make and the Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL) where he previously led the CADCAM & Robotics research lab and directed the Design for Manufacture MArch programme.
