Architecture was first taught at the University of Sydney in 1880, as an option within the postgraduate and undergraduate engineering degrees and it it wasn't until 1920 when a School of Architecture, within the Faculty of Science was formally opened, with Leslie Wilkinson as the first Chair. Later reorganisation produced the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning (now the School of Architecture, Design and Planning). The School's current home is the Wilkinson Building, which they have occupied since 1959.
