
The University of Oregon was formally opened in 1876, under the name of 'Oregon State University' and under went a major period of expansion in the early 20thC, with it's School of Architecture and Allied Arts being established in 1914 (renamed as the College of Design in 2017). Today the College comprises the School of Architecture & Environment, the School of Art + Design, the School of Planning, Public Policy and Management, and the Department of the History of Art and Architecture.
