Founded in 1961, as the first of the UK's 'Plate Glass Universities', the University of Sussex is located in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty, outside Brighton. The campus was master-planned by Basil Spence and Partners, whose Falmer House is today a Grade 1 heritage listed. Other Spence designed buildings which are also heritage listed include the Meeting House, Arts blocks, Library and Attenborough Centre of the Creative Arts.
