Ramesh Damjibhai Gajjar is recorded as a student from Zanzibar attending the Architectural Association’s post-graduate course at the Department of Tropical Studies, in 1963-64. Gajjar enrolled on a ‘lectures only’ basis which meant he did not qualify for receipt of the Department of Tropical Studies Certificate. He appears to have arrived in the UK, from Zanzibar in 1954, described as an ‘Architect’ on the passenger manifest, but it is not known to us where he trained or qualified. Following completion of the Department of Tropical Architecture course, it appears that Gajjar remained in the UK for at least part of his career, his address in the 1985 RIBA Directory giving the Department of Health and Social Security, at Euston Tower, London, as his point of contact. Ramesh died in Purley, Surrey, in 1993.
