Born in Ceylon (today Sri Lanka) in 1927, Sarangu De Silva is recorded as graduating from the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, c1957. He is then returned to Ceylon, leaving the Port of London on 10th October, 1958. He found employment as an Assistant Architect in the Buildings Division of the Public Works Department, in Colombo. However, in 1963 he returned to the UK and enrolled on the postgraduate course run by the Architectural Association’s Department of Tropical Studies, in London.
