The London County Council (LCC) was the municipal authority for the County of London from 1889 - 1965, when it was disbanded and replaced with the Greater London Council (GLC). The LCC's Architects Department was hugely influential upon the built environment of London and was arguably one of the largest architectural practices in the world in the 1950s, employing over 1500 staff by 1953.
