AA alumnus and Programme Head of the Visiting School Bamboo Lab John Naylor has been selected by RIBA as one their 2022 Rising Stars.

RIBA Journal's Rising Stars is an annual award given to six architects within the industry who question what it means to be an architect. Through a variety of skills, energy and expertise applied to a passion or cause, young 'architects' are acknowledged for answering those questions.

Naylor, recognised by RIBA as an emerging player in the architectural ecosystem, has dedicated his career to the use of bamboo as a construction material in the hope of bringing socioeconomic change to societies in the Global South. His innovative use of bamboo as a solution for displacement and inadequate housing has been implemented in Haiti, Myanmar and Indonesia.
