James Kwang Ho Chung (AA Tutor and AAVS Programme Head) and Jooeun Sung (AAVS Programme Head and AA alumnus) have been awarded the Exploratory Grant for UK-Korea Virtual Academic Collaboration. The grant has been awarded for the proposed project ‘Piloting Relay Learning: Developing new forms of design, exchange and collaboration inspired by Seoul's “(anti)designers”’.
This joint pilot academic programme between the Architectural Association and Yonsei University, Korea, will enable the development and testing of a new virtual teaching methodology – ‘relay learning’ – through a cross-continental collaboration between an instigating group of academics, students and design professionals.
Since 2015, the AA and Yonsei have collaborated on several research projects, Visiting School programmes and Global Forums, while the AA’s Public Programme has engaged with Korea though its events, including a lecture by Minsuk Cho and the Emerging North Korea symposium. This new teaching methodology aims to close the physical gap between the two countries and make future collaborations seamless.
