Distillation of Architecture: 家具, the AA’s current exhibition has been reviewed on Wallpaper* by Architecture and Environment Director Ellie Stathaki. The exhibition, which was curated by AA Diploma 11 tutor Shin Egashira and Maeda, displays four bodies of work across the AA Gallery and Front Members’ Room. Celebrating 30 years of collaboration between the AA and the Maeda Corporation, the exhibition ‘challenge(s) the conventions of mass-produced and mass-consumed furniture’.

Exhibited participants include Schemata Architects with Ikuya Sagara; Studio MNM with Kittaka Brothers & Corp, Bansyo, iskw_sss and Imatoku Kogei; Suzuko Yamada with Yuki Murakami; and Tsubame Architects with Hidakuma Studio; who have, according to Stathaki, created a ‘playful distilling of architectural thinking and design into furniture and objects’.
