Kate is Head of Hooke Park and co-Head of the Design and Make programme. She cofounded the nomadic design studio Unknown Fields, whose expedition work and land-based research explores the complexities of contemporary landscape – from landscapes of extraction, manufacturing and logistics to remote territories, wilderness and ancestral homelands. Kate’s expedition-based research has taken her to remote parts of the globe, and she is particularly interested in the places where conflicting value systems coexist. Her multidisciplinary and multimedia work explores the interwoven complexity of these territories as dynamic flows of matter and narrative, often co-opted by capital.
