The origins of the University of Florida can be traced back to 1853, with the Gainesville campus being its primary home since 1906. Architecture was initially taught from 1925, as a four-year course leading to a BSc in Architecture, whilst a graduate degree program was initiated in 1929, and the School of Architecture and Allied Arts formed. In 1972 a four-year pre-professional BArch degree, followed by a two-year professional MArch degree, were instituted.
