Salud Advento first registered as a qualified architect in the Philippines in 1950 and is noted as one of two Philippine students who were funded by the British Council to attend the Architectural Association Department of Tropical Architecture’s postgraduate course in London, in 1960-61. Upon completion of the course, Advento and his DTA colleague, Santiago Bautista, returned to the Philippines in 1961, where they received a welcome-back party from the Architecture Division of the Bureau of Public Works. It appears that Advento remained in government service for much of his career, reaching the position of Principal Architect for the Building Research and Development Staff, within the Ministry of Public Works and Highways, by 1983.
