In the early 1960s, Adeleke Adebiyi is recorded as an employee of the Architect’s Department of Nigeria’s Western Region’s Ministry of Works, based in Ibadan. In late 1963 the Eleti Ofe newspaper noted how Adebiyi and three other Nigerian architects (Ernest Osemeka, Samuel Ajayi and Ezekiel Fakoya) had recently been dispatched to London for six months of postgraduate study at the Architectural Association’s (AA) Department of Tropical Studies. The newspaper notes that the students had been funded through the Nigerian / British Technical Assistance scheme. Whilst at the AA, Adebiyi chose to join the ‘General Course’ within the Tropical Department, graduating with a Diploma in February 1964 and returning to Nigeria. Few details are yet known to us regarding his subsequent career but in the AA Membership List for 1969, Adebiyi provides an address in Lagos.
