Santiago Bautista first registered as a qualified architect in the Philippines in 1951 and is noted as one of two Philippine students who were funded by the British Council to attend the Architectural Association Department of Tropical Architecture’s postgraduate course, in 1960-61. Upon completion of the course, Bautista and his DTA colleague, Salud Advento, returned to the Philippines in 1961, where they received a welcome-back party from the Architecture Division of the Bureau of Public Works. Details of Bautista’s subsequent career are not clear and it is not known whether he remained in government service or entered private practice.
