Chumpon M. Surintraboon was born in Thailand in 1935 and attended Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, graduating in 1960 with a BArch, with distinction. Three years later, in September 1963, he enrolled on the post-graduate course at the Architectural Association’s (AA) Department of Tropical Studies, London. Soon after completing the AA course Surintraboon moved to the US where he gained a MArch. in Architecture and Urban Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1970. His outstanding thesis, entitled ‘An Industrialised Housing System’ is now preserved in the MIT Archives. Jointly written with 2 other classmates and supervised by the Eduardo Catalano, the thesis proposed a model for the rational and efficient production of pre-fabricated housing units. Details of Surintraboon’s subsequent life and career are not yet known to us.
