William Asamoah is recorded as a Ghanaian student enrolled on the 1965-66, six-month, postgraduate ‘General Course’ at the Architectural Association’s (AA) Department of Tropical Studies, in London. His final thesis project was for University Staff Housing. Prior to his time at the AA, William had received his architectural training in the US, entering the freshman year at the University of Oregon in 1957. By late 1962 was back working as an architect in Ghana, attending the foundational meetings of what was to become the Ghana Institute of Architects. Following his graduation from the AA in 1966 with a Certificate in Tropical Studies, Asamoah returned to his home country and by 1969 was working for the Architect’s Office at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where he was to remain until his resignation in 1975. He then established a private consultancy in Kumasi, which he led until his death in 1999.
